Who is responsible
The data controller is Danilo Arcopinto, who develops and runs Tangofy as an individual. For any question about your data, write to privacy@tangofy.app.
What stays on your device
Tangofy works without an account too. In that case everything you prepare is saved only in your browser's database and nobody, us included, can see it:
| Data | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Track information | Title, orchestra, singers, year, genre, length, cover art and where the file sits on your computer: it is your library. |
| Projects, tandas and playlists | The nights you prepare. |
| Night history | The tracks actually played, with the time, so you can look back at your sets. |
| Settings | Theme, text size, audio outputs, even volume, pauses, cortina length. |
| Folder access | The permission you gave to read your music folders. |
You can delete all of it at any time from the app's settings (empty the cache) or from your browser's settings.
Account and sync
If you create an account (with email and password or with Google) we use Google Firebase for sign-in and to keep a copy of your nights. We keep:
- Profile: email, account identifier, creation and update dates, account type.
- Usage: the days and times you open the app and how long you use it, so you can see your own stats and we can learn how to improve it.
- Sign-in state: whether the account is already open on another device, to prevent two sign-ins at once.
- Copy of your projects: track information, tandas, playlists and preferences (theme, text, audio settings), compressed. File locations are included only as a hint to find the files on each computer.
Never the audio. Music files are not uploaded: the copy only holds the information that describes your library. Audio device choices stay on each computer.
Each account can only read and write its own data. Firebase servers may be located outside the European Union; Google applies the safeguards required by the GDPR (standard contractual clauses).
Ads and cookies
The app may show Google AdSense ads. Google may use cookies and identifiers to show and measure them, under its own policies and your consent choices. Offline, no ads are loaded.
Cookies on this website
This website can show Google AdSense too, but only if you accept it in the cookie banner on your first visit. If you decline, we request no ads from Google and use no profiling cookies or analytics. Either way the site remembers, in your browser, your language and your answer to the banner.
You can change your mind any time from Cookie settings, also at the bottom of every page. For Google's own ad choices see how Google uses cookies in advertising.
Spotify
If you connect Spotify, you sign in on Spotify's own page. Tangofy asks permission to play music, to read and control playback and to read your profile and email. The authorisation stays in your browser and is only used to search, import and play tracks. You can revoke it any time from your Spotify account settings.
Browser permissions
- Music folders: to read the files you choose. The browser asks again after a reload, unless you pick "Allow on every visit".
- Microphone: only to learn the names of the connected speakers and headphones, so you can choose where the milonga and the pre‑listen go. Tangofy closes the microphone at once and records nothing.
- Second window: the dancer display talks to the main window inside your browser, without going through the internet.
Why and for how long
- Account and sync: needed to provide the service you asked for. Kept while the account is active.
- Ads: based on your consent, which you can refuse or withdraw.
Your rights
You can ask at any time to see, correct, export or delete your data, or to restrict its use, by writing to privacy@tangofy.app. You can download a full backup of your nights yourself, from the app's settings. If you think your data is mishandled you can contact your data protection authority.
